Greater Noida Authority approves phase 2 of Aqua Line

Greater Noida Authority Approves Phase 2 of Aqua Line

The Aqua Line extension will comprise nine stations, officials said.

This news would  bring  cheer to residents of Greater Noida West. The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) on December 4 approved the second phase of the Metro link from Noida Sector 71 to Knowledge Park 5 in Greater Noida. The extension will comprise nine stations and cost Rs 2602 crore, top officials said.

This decision was taken at the Authority’s 113th board meeting. “NMRC would be the nodal agency for the project. The first phase of the Metro project comprising five stations from Noida Sector 71 to Greater Noida Sector 2 is expected to cost around Rs 1521 crore, officials said.

“The modalities and details on the DPR would be given later,” Chief secretary AC Pandey was quoted as saying.

The extended line of Noida Metro’s Aqua Line will have a total of nine metro stations  out of which two will be in Noida and seven will be in Greater Noida. The metro stations in Noida include sectors 122 and 123 and the metro stations in Greater Noida include sector 4, Ecotech 12, Sectors 2, 3, 10, 12 and Knowledge Park V.

Almost a year ago, Noida and Greater Noida authorities, which will fund the Metro link, had decided to put the project on hold citing a fund crisis. They had also said that the project was not feasible as ridership would be low along the route.

Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), that was set up in November 2014, would construct the link. It has also constructed the over Rs 5,000-crore Noida-Greater Noida Metro link that is expected to be operational by end of 2018.

Home buyers of Greater Noida West, that now has a population of about 30,000 residents, have welcomed the decision. They hope that work would begin soon. “Also by the time construction is completed, over 50,000 residents would have moved into the area,” said Abhishek Kumar of NEFOWA.

Over 3.5 Lakh residential units are expected to come up in the area.

Rites to Conduct Survey for Jewar Airport

GREATER NOIDA: The proposed Jewar international airport project is gaining momentum. Days after chief minister Yogi Adityanath revived the project, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Wednesday appointed engineering consultancy company RITES to conductan obstacle limitation survey (OLS) for the same. The move came in the wake of the state civil aviation department asking YEIDA to get the process started immediately.

According to YEIDA officials, they have received a letter from the director of civil aviation, Lucknow, on April 25, asking them to expedite the survey. “In September last year, we had advised the UP civil aviation department to carry out an obstacle survey of the land where the airport is proposed since we do not have any expert to do the same,” said Arunvir Singh, CEO of YEIDA.

Yamuna expressway authority cuts interest rates on land allotment.

Besides reducing the interest rates, Dr Prabhat Kumar also released a schedule for possession of 10,500 plots and another 5,100 flats that were allotted in 2009.

The Yamuna Expressway industrial development authority (YEIDA) reduced the interest on instalments it receives from allottees by 1.35%. The cut in interest rate is likely to be effective from the first week of June 2017, after it is approved in the authority’s board meeting.

On Friday, Dr Prabhat Kumar, the commissioner of Meerut division held a detailed meeting with YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh and other officials.

“We have decided to charge only 10.65% interest, instead of 12%, on the due to be cleared by an allottee. We are planning to cut the interest rate by another 1.15% very soon. As banks have reduced interest rates, we want to pass on the benefit to our allottees,” said Dr Prabhat Kumar, chairman of YEIDA and Greater Noida authority.

“We will organise board meeting for the Yamuna Expressway area in the first week of June. We will approve the proposal of the rate cut on interest in that board meeting so that we can officially implement the decision taken to benefit the allottees. Once approved at the board meeting, we will put the new rates into effect. We are yet to decide the final date for the board meeting,” said Kumar.

Kumar has directed officials to take steps to ensure that allottees or homebuyers who have invested in areas along Yamuna Expressway do not face any hassles.

Besides reducing the interest rates, Dr Prabhat Kumar also released a schedule for possession of 10,500 plots and another 5,100 flats that were allotted in 2009.

For the last seven years, allottees have been suffering because of delayed possession. The authority could not give possession to allottees because farmers had approached the Allahabad high court over refusing to part with their agricultural land.

However, the authority has resolved a majority of the cases and settled farmers’ issues related with hiked land compensation, so that it can give possession to plot allottees.

“I have directed officials to expedite the process of giving possession of plots and flats to allottees,” said Kumar.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s green signal to Delhi-NCR’s second airport in Greater Noida

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has revived the proposal for Jewar International Airport in Delhi-NCR’s Greater Noida. According to sources, the chief minister asked senior officers to take up with the Centre the issues concerning the construction of Jewar International Airport.

Union minister of state for culture and tourism (independent charge) and Gautam Budh Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma who had been favouring the Jewar International project had recently met the chief minister.

The idea of an airport in Greater Noida was first mooted by then UP chief minister Rajnath Singh. Mayawati-led BSP government also pushed for the Jewar International Airport. The SP government, however, preferred an international airport in Agra and considered Saifai (SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s native village) as one of the options.

Adityanath gave directions to senior officers of infrastructure and industry development department during the presentations made to him on late Thursday evening.

“Chief minister has asked officers to push for construction of an international airport at Jewar. He has also asked the officers to explore the Agra option,” said a senior officer. About the Agra-Lucknow expressway, the chief minister asked the officers to get the work completed at the earliest. He said the work on Poorvanchal Expressway, too, should also be started at the earliest.

The state government will also remove “Samajwadi” from the “Poorvanchal Expressway” project of the previous Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government.

The chief minister said the super specialty hospital coming up at Noida should be developed on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He said the Gautam Buddha University situated at Greater Noida should be developed as centre of excellence. He asked the officers to explore the option of re-opening the closed spinning mills in the state. He asked officers to submit a report on the issue in three weeks.
